About Amelia

I am currently studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, and I want to use my experience of the admissions process to help other students approach it with greater confidence and clarity.

I know that applying to Oxford and other highly competitive universities can often feel difficult to navigate, particularly when it comes to understanding interviews, demonstrating academic interest, and knowing what makes a strong application. I therefore want to provide students with practical, realistic guidance based on my own experience of applying for PPE, alongside my wider teaching experience.

I have five years of experience working with students in an educational setting. This has involved teaching classes, tutoring individual students, training other tutors, and offering Oxbridge interview support for philosophy, politics, and economics individually. Through this, I have developed an adaptable teaching style and learned how to explain difficult ideas clearly while responding to the needs of different students.

What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students become more confident in their own reasoning. For PPE admissions in particular, I want students to feel comfortable engaging with unfamiliar questions, developing arguments independently, and explaining their thinking clearly rather than relying on rehearsed answers. My aim is to make the admissions process feel more manageable while helping students develop skills that will also be useful once they reach university.

About the lesson

I offer one-to-one admissions support for students applying to Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and related courses at Oxford, Cambridge and other leading UK universities.

Sessions can be tailored entirely to the individual student and may include:
Mock interviews – realistic PPE-style interview practice, followed by detailed feedback on reasoning, argument structure, communication and how to respond when challenged.
Personal statement and application advice – helping students identify strong academic themes, structure their ideas and communicate genuine intellectual interest.
Academic preparation for PPE – developing the analytical and discussion skills useful both for admissions and for studying PPE at university.
General university admissions advice – support for students applying to PPE, Economics, Philosophy, Politics and closely related subjects.

My approach is focused on helping students become stronger independent thinkers rather than memorising prepared answers. In admissions interviews in particular, I aim to develop the ability to think clearly under pressure, defend an argument, respond constructively to objections and engage confidently with unfamiliar material.
