About Evie

I am a passionate, professional individual with a love for literature, languages and life. I have dedicated years to academia so as to enrich my own education and the education of my students.

I have just finished my degree at the University of Oxford and so am looking to help others with their language and literature skills in a challenging and fun environment.

Growing up I knew teaching others would be a big part of my future as I helped my little brother untangle complicated concepts in his homework. I soon began taking classes at my local Sunday School in languages and literature. Over time, I began to build a tutoring client base and have not looked back. For the past seven years I have had a vast quantity of students; those who studied languages with me have since moved to the country of their target language - now feeling confident enough to do so. Those who have studied entrance exams have all been offered places, and those who studied GCSEs and A Levels with me, are now working at a level roughly 3 grade boundaries higher than when they started/ have done exceptionally well in their exams.
I am a calm, confident teacher, and I hope to instil this same feeling into my students.

About the lesson

I have been teaching my specialisms for 7 years, and have studied them at A-Level and Oxford university, also as a visiting student at the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidade de Lisboa.

Our first lesson will help me assess your level and learning style. We will then structure our time around filling in gaps and raising the level of your grammar, vocabulary and over all expression. For literature specific lessons, we will learn in the style of an Oxford tutorial - you will read the material in advance, we will discuss it, and then I will push you to develop your ideas further, thinking about structure, context, multiple interpretations.

I also strive to create a learning environment that is engaging, patient and enjoyable.

I have experience teaching individuals, couples, families and school groups of all ages and will adjust my style and content accordingly.
