About Elise
I achieved a First-Class undergraduate degree in Classics and English at the University of Oxford. I subsequently undertook a master's degree (MSt) at Oxford University in Greek and Latin Languages and Literature, for which I received a Distinction (the highest classification).
I also attained 3 A*s at A-Level in Classical Civilisation, English Literature and Latin; an A* in my EPQ; an A in AS History; and 10 GCSEs at grade 9.

I offer lessons in the following:
- GCSE and A-Level English Literature. As well as developing a thoughtful and analytical approach to the students' set texts, improving essay writing skills and exam technique is central to my teaching. We will therefore work through past paper questions together and create detailed essay plans.
- GCSE and A-Level Latin. I cover all components of grammar and translation, including English-Latin prose composition, as well as the prose and verse literature modules. I am also more than happy to teach beginner's Latin to students who are new to the language and those who may be self-studying.
- GCSE Ancient Greek. I exclusively teach the language component, covering grammar and translation. I am also happy to teach beginners the language from scratch.
- GCSE and A-Level Classical Civilisation. Regarding the A-Level, I have particular expertise in OCR's The World of the Hero and Greek Theatre modules. I will work with students to not only deepen their subject knowledge, but to also hone their essay writing skills and exam technique.
- Preparation for the 11+ exams. Exclusively verbal reasoning. My lessons will centre around working through examples of all question types to ace exam technique.
- Oxbridge admissions advice, with a focus on English and Classics. I can offer help with preparation for the Latin CAT (the Oxford Classics entrance exam); provide advice on personal statements; and conduct mock interviews for the joint degree in Classics and English as well as for single honours English and Classics.
After identifying the specific areas which the student wishes to focus on in their learning, I will tailor our lessons to their individual requirements so that the student feels as prepared as possible. My primary aim when tutoring is to create a supportive and fun learning environment, while ensuring a thorough and meticulous approach. Lessons are typically 1 hour long, and are delivered exclusively online.
