About Rachel
I am nearing completion of my Master's degree in English literature at the University of Oxford. I previously graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in English language & literature, where I was awarded the highest departmental honours. I have spent 3 summers tutoring students with ages ranging from 4-18. I also have experience in tutoring GCSE, A-level, and IB curriculums. I achieved 8A*s in the GCSE and 44/45 on the IB myself. Other than being native in English, I am also a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese and can provide services in those languages as well.

My approach to tutoring is student-centred, adaptable, and rooted in building understanding rather than rote memorisation. I start by identifying each learner’s strengths, gaps, and preferred learning style. Lessons typically combine clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive discussion. Each session will be conducted online and can last anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the learner's request. In addition to tutoring, I also offer English essay editing services and US/UK admissions essay editing and consulting services.
