About Daniel

Hello!! My name is Daniel and I'm an MPhys Physics Undergraduate at the University of Oxford. I remember how stressful it was applying to university, and I would like to help the application process be a much smoother experience for you. I aim to provide interesting and engaging sessions, with in-depth tutoring for the PAT as well as targeted interview training with unique materials. I want to help you articulate your ideas and develop an intuitive understanding of the material that can be applied to when faced with unfamiliar problems. As an Oxford student myself, I understand the ins and outs of the application process, and can guide you through making a competitive application. I believe developing a curious mindset and thinking outside the box is crucial to PAT and interview success.

In terms of my qualifications, I achieved 5 A*s in A Level Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and an EPQ, along with 12 Grade 9s at GCSE, and was accepted into my college of choice at the University of Oxford. I represented the United Kingdom to achieve Silver in the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (2nd in the UK and 58th in the world). I have also achieved Top Gold in BPhO Round 1 (top 100 students in the UK), Silver in BPhO Round 2, 3x Gold in the UKChO, Gold in the Senior Maths Challenge, Gold in the Y12 Physics Challenge and Gold in the C3L6 Chemistry Challenge. I aim to pass on these creative problem-solving skills to help your Oxbridge application succeed, and I hope to hear from you soon!

About the lesson

My lessons aim to target students looking to make a competitive Oxford application for Physics. As an Oxford undergraduate who has taken the PAT myself, I am able to provide in-depth advice on how to succeed, both by developing a fundamental understanding of physical concepts and by coaching effective use of examination time. I place a large emphasis on having a grasp on core concepts, before working through previous examination or examination style questions. I am also available to provide my own guidance on other areas of the admissions process based on my own experiences. This can range from developing your personal statement and selecting supercurricular activities, to in-depth interview preparation and tips. Typically my lessons last 1 hour (but this is completely up to you), during which we will work through problems together on a shared whiteboard. To consolidate the learning, I may also set problem sheets outside of the lesson to reinforce key concepts.
