About Eve
Hi! Welcome to my tutoring profile.
I offer tuition in all aspects of the Oxford application process, including interview and MAT preparation. One of my main aims as a tutor is to remove the fear from these processes so that you can learn and improve as effectively as possible.
Providing encouragement, building confidence and creating a learning environment where students feel able to express any uncertainty with the mathematics is just as integral to my teaching approach as the insight I can provide as a Cambridge interviewer and STEP examiner.
I have the following experience:
- 5 years as an interviewer for maths admissions at Cambridge, designing questions, interviewing applicants and assisting with admissions decisions;
- 4 years as a senior examiner for STEP, which though different to MAT in format, the examiners look for the same skill set, and as an examiner myself I know exactly what you need to showcase;
- 4 years of experience teaching undergraduate maths at Cambridge;
- 9 years of experience tutoring students for MAT and STEP;
- 12 years of general teaching / tutoring experience;
- I founded, direct, and teach at a STEP summer school where the teaching and student feedback is of such a high standard that a Cambridge college have assessed, renewed, and increased our funding for five years.

I am an enthusiastic tutor for the MAT admissions test, and preparation for Oxford interviews.
I focus on building confidence to allow you to unlock your own mathematical potential - I find that often, overcoming the uneasiness that many students feel approaching MAT and Oxford interviews is the step that makes the biggest change in a student's attainment.
My MAT preparation lessons take between 1 and 2 hours as you please. My aim to guide and support your preparation, and as a result at least half of the time is spent reviewing what you have done between lessons and helping you to improve the quality, clarity, and speed of your answers. The rest of the time will be spent looking at problems I have selected for you to work on in the session with my assistance to develop your problem solving skills as much as possible.
My Oxford interview preparation classes consist of a 30 minute mock interview, then a 30 minute session giving feedback with some teaching to improve your performance. You may also request a sheet of interview-style problems tailored to improve your interview performance based on the session. Students may wish to book one or multiple sessions. If booking multiple sessions I advise leaving at least a week between sessions, and working on my sheets of tailored problems in the mean time so that we can make sure you are improving session by session.

Details
The free 15 minute lesson is used as a first consultation to scope your needs and answer any questions you may have.
Any travel cost is agreed in advance of tuition taking place in the event teaching happens in the student's home.
I can also provide a sheet of tailored problems for you to work on after the session for an additional fee of £30.
