About Hazel

I'm Hazel, a 3rd year student of English Language and Literature, studying at Oxford University in the UK. I achieved grade 9s in 12 subjects at GCSE, including English Literature and Language, Spanish, Business Studies, Psychology and more. I went on to achieve 4 A* Grades at A-Level and secured my place at Oxford University. I am currently on track to finish my degree with a 1:1! My area of expertise is English literature, and I have experience tutoring both GCSE and A-Level students. I am also proficient in Spanish, achieving top grades at both GCSE and A-Level. I am deeply passionate about my subject and will do what it takes to support you through your learning. I can cater to a wide range of revision styles or offer advice to improve your performance and essay writing techniques. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your full potential!

About the lesson

Having been through GCSE and A-Level English Literature myself I know just how overwhelming it can be as a subject! However, I came out the other side with a grade 9 from EDUQAS for both English Language and Literature GCSEs and a full-mark A* from OCR for A-Level and I want to help you to reach your full potential too. While I am most knowledgeable on the specific demands of these boards, I am also happy to cater to the needs of other exam boards (AQA, OCR, CIE) or take a more general approach to literature more widely, for instance in preparation for university. I take a student-centred, flexible approach to tutoring, tailoring each session to your unique needs, goals, and learning style. I am happy to help you in any way that you require, whether that be working through a poem, novel or play, practising close analysis, improving essay writing skills, practising text comparison, revising quotes and learning how to use them effectively in an exam, proofreading essays or working through past papers together. My lessons will typically last between 40 minutes to an hour however I am happy to accommodate different preferences and provide longer/shorter sessions where necessary. I tend to provide tutoring to students age 11-18, specifically focusing on GCSE and A-Level English Literature. However, I am also able to provide support to students at other stages in their learning, including 11+ and 13+/Common Entrance exams or those approaching the transition between Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I look forward to working with you and helping you to succeed in English Literature and Language!
