About Ellie
I graduated from the University of Oxford with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature in 2015, and am now pursuing a Masters in Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL. My course involves both practical work and writing, as well as presenting on theory and aesthetics.
I completed my dissertation at Oxford on the works of J.G. Ballard and postmodern dystopia, with an additional shorter coursework piece on popular science writing and metaphor. In my Masters research, I focus on the instability of language and it's function for transferring meaning, as well as the nature of the self.
I have also tutored English Literature and Language before, and am familiar with various exam boards. I love working with young people and other degree students, and am happy to teach at a basic or advanced level. I have worked with young people and children since I was a teenager, through volunteering at a youth group, a Guides unit and various family-friendly arts events for charities such as Oxfam.
I have studied a broad range of literature, and also have experience teaching exam technique, comprehension and creative writing. I love to explore different subjects with my students and would look forward to helping my students progress and enjoy their subjects.
