About Lewis
Hi I'm Lewis! I recently graduated from Oxford with a first class degree in Earth Sciences. My particular research focus was on mineralogy and natural resources; however, the nature of the Earth Sciences course allowed me to pursue interests in several scientific disciplines, such as paleobiology and volcanology. Being the first member of my family to go to university and coming from a state comprehensive educational background, I understand how important support can be for reaching academic goals. Therefore, I am very passionate about providing this support to others who need it.

Since graduating I have gained professional experience in personal statement, Oxford interview, and academic tutoring. I believe tutorials should help a student to understand difficult concepts rather than learning how to repeat a method. In this sense, I like to focus sessions on improving the student's ability to problem solve and think independently and originally. For university interviews, this would involve guiding discussions around critical topics in Earth Science, allowing the student to expand their knowledge and apply it to unfamiliar situations. I encourage the student to engage with sessions as much as possible to increase their confidence in answering difficult questions and improve their ability to articulate their thought process as they learn and explore the subject.
