About Henrietta (Hattie)
I’m an Art History and Fine Art tutor with over 15 years’ experience teaching students aged 16–21+, specialising in A level and undergraduate level work. I am an enthusiastic, friendly and motivating tutor.
I offering the following subjects and levels:
History of Art
• BA & MA tuition
• A level / Pre-U
• UCAS & Oxbridge preparation
• Dissertation and coursework support
• General mentorship
I’ve taught across all major exam boards and have a strong record supporting successful applications to Oxford, Cambridge and other competitive universities in the UK and the US. After completing my BA in Human Sciences (Anthropology) at Oxford (2013), I earned an MA with Distinction from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2015), specialising in visual anthropology and the history of photography. Since then I have researched and taught across a wide range of art historical periods and themes.
As a published writer, researcher, and exhibiting fine artist, I bring depth and range to my teaching — combining art historical knowledge with insight from broader humanities and scientific perspectives. I’ve tutored students at institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, the Courtauld, Bristol, Exeter, Edinburgh, LCC, CSM, London Met, and Stanford.
Fine Art
• BA & MA tuition
• A level / Pre-U / GCSE
• Portfolio development and mentoring
I have extensive experience tutoring Fine Art from GCSE to postgraduate level, including adult learners and neurodivergent students. I have supported many students in developing portfolios that have led to offers from leading art schools in the UK and the US.

As a tutor, my goal is to help students achieve the highest academic results they’re capable of while developing genuine motivation and curiosity for their subject. I combine structured academic tutoring with coaching techniques that build confidence, independence, and intellectual engagement.
Alongside exam-focused preparation, I support students in essay writing, research skills, and long-term project planning at both A level and undergraduate level. My teaching is highly structured, with clear goals and milestones to ensure consistent progress.
I’m an enthusiastic and supportive tutor, offering guidance between sessions when needed. I usually work with students on a weekly basis, primarily online, but also have extensive experience teaching in person - including as a residential tutor outside the UK (in locations ranging from Los Angeles to Riyadh) in the run-up to examinations. This has given me expertise in designing tailored academic mentorship and coaching programmes.
During the pandemic, I advised tutoring organisations on adapting effectively to online teaching, and I continue to design and refine bespoke A level resources and learning materials, adapting them to each student’s interests and chosen case studies.
