About Dr Emma
I studied medicine at Cambridge, graduating with a triple first-class distinction and multiple academic prizes, including College Scholar in every undergraduate year. I now work as a paediatrics trainee and have held roles as a Lead Clinical Teaching Fellow, NHS Clinical Entrepreneur, and postgraduate researcher in medical education.
For the past ten years, I have helped students from the UK and internationally apply to medical school through one-to-one online tuition and in-person summer schools, delivering well over a hundred hours of interview practice and personalised coaching. I have also interviewed candidates myself, so I know first-hand how panels think, what they reward, and where applicants most commonly fall short. Students I have worked with have gone on to receive offers from Oxford, Cambridge and other highly competitive medical schools.
My academic background spans published systematic reviews, international conference presentations, and quality improvement research in paediatrics, which means the scientific reasoning I teach is grounded in active clinical and research practice rather than distant memory.
What drives my teaching is not just familiarity with the process but a genuine belief that the qualities admissions panels are looking for (curiosity, rigour, and the ability to reason under pressure) can be deliberately developed with the right guidance. My role is to help students discover that they can think like a scientist and a clinician, not just prepare them to perform in an interview.

I offer two routes depending on where you are in your preparation: a full programme for students building towards interview over several months, or standalone mock interviews for those who are closer to their date and want targeted practice.
Oxbridge Medicine Interview Preparation Programme:
For students who want comprehensive, long-term preparation, I offer a structured programme that builds the knowledge, reasoning skills and confidence needed to perform at the highest level in Oxford and Cambridge medicine interviews. Sessions are built around real peer-reviewed research articles, clinical scenarios and current NHS policy debates, covering the scientific foundations (anatomy, physiology, genetics, pharmacology, immunology, pathology and histopathology) alongside medical ethics, health inequalities, research literacy and data interpretation. The approach is Socratic: rather than delivering content for students to memorise, I use guided questioning to develop the ability to reason from first principles, make connections across disciplines, and think clearly about unfamiliar problems, which is exactly what Oxbridge interview panels are testing. Students also receive structured homework including written assignments, article analysis and independent research tasks, with detailed feedback on each. The programme is tailored to each student's starting point and typically runs across a series of sessions in the months leading up to interview.
Mock Interviews:
For students who already feel well prepared and want focused interview practice, I offer standalone mock interviews conducted over a virtual platform. Each session consists of thirty to forty-five minutes of questioning drawn from my own extensive bank of interview questions, developed from my experience as both a Cambridge graduate and an interviewer. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the applicant's performance, identifying specific strengths, diagnosing weaknesses, and setting out a clear plan for improvement. I also provide supporting materials for students to work through independently, including written feedback on their performance and guidance on how to reflect on work experience effectively for interview. Mock interviews can be booked individually or as a short series for students who want to build confidence and refine their technique in the weeks before their interview date.
I can offer a free first meeting to get to know each other, explain my methods and answer any questions you have.
Cancellation policy: No refund if less than 24 hours notice 50% if 48-24 hours notice Full refund >48 hours notice
Recommendations

Emma is a very well-read, proficient, and trustworthy tutor. She taught me everything there is to know about medical school interviews and more. We had some very interesting and in-depth discussions about the different topics in medicine, such as ethics, hot topics, and the NHS. She also challenged my opinions and exposed me to many new concepts and ways of thinking. What's more, she gave me many handouts for me to keep and read before my interviews. Thank you, Emma!
Emma is such a wonderful Tutor, we did a practice medicine interview and she was very patient and thorough. Her explanations were clear and simple, I can't recommend her enough!
