About Patrick
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Literature. As a family tradition, I have practiced Chinese calligraphy since the age of eight. I used to be a multinational executive at IBM and other company, now I dedicate my time to teaching calligraphy.
I have taught over 100 calligraphy students in China and overseas. Through years of study and teaching, I have come to see calligraphy not only as an art form, but also as a gateway to Chinese culture, literature, aesthetics, and ways of thinking.

Course Structure:
Together, we select a suitable classical copybook (字帖) based on the student’s level, interests, and goals.
Set one-to-one video lessons include:
-- brush techniques (笔法)
-- correction of previous work
-- character structure (结构)
-- composition and layout (章法)
-- calligraphy aesthetics (书法审美)
-- stylistic development and artistic expression
Students submit practice work regularly, and I provide detailed feedback and corrections,
I divide my students into three levels.
Beginner, focus on:
--basic strokes
--brush control
--character structure
Intermediate, focus on:
--composition
--rhythm
--spatial balance
--stylistic consistency
Advanced, focus on:
--artistic style
--creative expression
--personal interpretation
--historical understanding
