About David
With over 8 years of experience teaching piano to 150+ students, I have developed a flexible and student-centered teaching style that emphasizes both technical mastery and creative expression. I believe that learning piano should be enjoyable and meaningful, which is why I customize lessons based on each student’s individual interests and learning style. Early lessons focus on fundamentals such as finger exercises, sight-reading, rhythm, and basic theory to ensure a strong foundation. As students progress, I introduce more complex repertoire and encourage improvisation and personal interpretation to foster musicality. I place a strong emphasis on developing good practice habits and performance skills, helping students prepare for recitals or other public performances with confidence and poise. I also support students who want to compose or arrange their own music, integrating creativity alongside technique. One highlight of my teaching career was helping a shy teenager develop stage confidence and successfully perform their first public recital. This experience reminded me how music education is as much about building self-esteem as it is about mastering an instrument. My goal is to nurture well-rounded musicians who find joy and fulfillment through piano.

Every student brings something unique to the piano bench—and my teaching reflects that. I focus on three main values: compassion, integrity, and adaptability.
I lead with compassion, always aiming to understand and support my students not just as learners, but as people. Music can bring up emotions—frustration, joy, doubt, excitement—and I respond with patience, encouragement, and empathy. I believe students thrive when they feel safe and respected.
I teach with integrity, focusing on true understanding rather than surface-level progress. That means we focus on good hand technique, reading music, rhythm, listening skills, and musical expression. I provide honest feedback in a caring way and help students build lifelong musical tools—not just prepare for the next song.
And most importantly, I’m adaptable. Every student learns differently, and I shape each lesson to match those needs. If you’re a visual learner, I’ll use charts and diagrams. If you love popular music, we’ll include your favorite songs. My teaching is never rigid—I meet you where you are and grow from there.
Whether you're learning for fun, preparing for exams, or simply exploring a new hobby, I’ll help make your piano journey personal and rewarding.
