About Boyd
"Playing with the Seattle Symphony informs how I approach teaching music from my Chicago studio. I have spent 7 years guiding everyone from 4-year-old beginners to high schoolers prepping for college auditions. My practice covers essential technical pillars like sight reading, rhythm, timing, scales, and arpeggios.
I find that focusing on the mechanics of vibrato and music theory creates a stronger foundation for the classical repertoire. I aim to create a supportive environment where strong technique and a genuine love of music can grow together.

"Starting a new piece feels intimidating for many people at first. I aim to demystify the process during our time together.
My 7 years of playing professionally help me break down complex orchestral passages into manageable steps. We will focus on physical comfort and precise intonation. It is quite satisfying to watch a student finally nail a difficult shift or discover a new sense of ease and freedom in their sound.
