About Marco

I have been tutoring for about three and a half years at the time of writing this ad. The thing I love most about tutoring is watching students gain confidence through their exam periods and become masters of all the essential skills to do well - it's not all just about memorising mark schemes and content. This is a personal win for me having once been in their shoes, lost and confused in a tidal wave of A-level content and trying to lift my marks in one area while not letting everything else slip. Over the last few years, I have gained as much as my students have from my lessons, possibly more and I hope to continue on this trajectory.

About the lesson

Having been through this process myself a few years ago, I know how painstaking writing the 'perfect' personal statement can be. Which nugget of information may make or break a chance at a university place. Pleasingly, I received 5/5 offers after sending in my finalised personal statement but getting the balance of academic and personal life right within a limited word count is a challenge I can empathise with. In these sessions we can work through what makes a good personal statement (composition, language, enthusiasm etc.), take a look at some examples of good personal statements that landed people in their first choice university and work on preparing for any interviews that may come after. The interview stage can again be a really stressful period but my aim is to give students the confidence to come out of the process knowing they gave everything they could have.
