About Jo
I qualified from University in Bristol with a 2:1 BA Hons in English Literature with qualified teacher status. My passion is early years education and I have been lucky to have very lucky to have worked with great children from Pre-school to year 2. I left the classroom 2 years ago to support my own children with their education and run my small farm but my desire to teach has never left me.
Tutoring 1:1 with children gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and enjoyment of phonic learning in a focused way, enabling the learner to receive my undivided support and attention away from the busy classroom. I believe it is also a partnership that is undertaken with parents. So I also offer support and guidance for next steps with parents to help with support at home.

I am an Early years qualified teacher with 20 years classroom experience from Pre-school to year 2.
My focus is particularly in supporting and developing early phonic knowledge, early reading and writing skills and numeracy skills.
I use a multi-sensory approach to learning, including; synthetic phonics, songs, rhymes and actions to help children engage and become active participants whilst having fun as they learn. My lessons are broken into 3 sections as follows:
Introduction and welcome - 10mins
Lesson focus- 30mins
Feedback/parental support- 10mins
Questions/goodbye - 10mins
Timings may vary according to child's needs
