About Aileen

I am a chess tutor with 12 years of teaching experience and a strong passion for helping students improve their thinking and decision making skills through chess. Over the years, I have successfully taught around 150 to 200 students of different levels, from complete beginners to advanced competitive players. My goal is to make chess simple, practical, and enjoyable for every learner.

My teaching philosophy is based on clear understanding rather than memorisation. I focus on helping students learn how to think during a game instead of only remembering moves. I teach openings, middlegame strategies, endgame techniques, tactics, calculation, and positional understanding in a structured and easy way. I also guide students in important areas like pattern recognition, time management, and game analysis.

Each student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style according to their pace and level. I believe in patience, step by step learning, and consistent practice. I encourage students to ask questions, analyse their mistakes, and learn from every game they play.

One of my key strengths is breaking complex positions into simple ideas that students can easily understand. I regularly use practice games, puzzles, and real match analysis to build strong practical skills. Many of my students have shown noticeable improvement in confidence, focus, and competitive performance.

I maintain a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel motivated to grow. My aim is not only to help students win games, but also to develop strong logical thinking and problem solving skills that help them beyond chess.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for chess is structured, practical, and focused on building strong thinking skills. I help students understand not only how to play moves, but why each move works. My lessons cover key areas such as openings, middlegame strategy, endgame techniques, tactics, positional play, calculation, and board visualisation. I also include important related topics like pattern recognition, game analysis, time management, and tournament preparation. For beginners, I start with the basic rules, piece movement, and simple checkmates to build confidence. For intermediate and advanced players, I focus on deeper strategy, planning, and improving decision-making under pressure.

My tutoring style is flexible and adapts to each student’s level and learning speed. I adjust lessons based on strengths and areas that need improvement. Communication is a key part of my teaching, and I encourage students to ask questions freely and think out loud during games. I maintain a positive and supportive environment so students feel motivated and enjoy learning chess. Integrity is important in my coaching, and I focus on honest feedback that helps real improvement.

I use game analysis to review student matches and identify mistakes and better alternatives. I also include practice puzzles, training games, and real match simulations to strengthen practical skills. My goal is to develop strong analytical thinking, patience, and confidence in every student. I aim to help learners not just play chess, but think like a chess player in every situation.
