About XILAVI ALINAH
I did my basic Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery, followed by Bachelor of Arts in Nursing Science at UNISA. Since I am very passionate about Midwifery, I did Advanced Diploma in Midwifery and Neonatology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. I have more than 30 years Clinical Experience. Have worked in rural and urban health care settings. Public and Private hospitals, in South Africa and Saudi Arabia. Even when I was employed as Nursing Director in Saudi Arabia, I have been actively involved in teaching midwives in High-Risk Antenatal ward, Labor Rooms and Post Natal Wards. Currently, I have retired but I am employed as a temporary Clinical Preceptor for Advanced Midwifery students at the University of Johannesburg. I have an ocean of knowledge and experience that I want to impart to student midwives locally and around the Globe. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here for you. Let us do this together. Shall we?

My medium of instruction is English. I teach Midwifery from Basic to Advanced midwifery students. I strongly believe in the application of theory into practice. My lessons will include;
CTG monitoring and interpretation, Mechanism of labour, Normal and Abnormal Pregnancy, Labour and Pueperium. Management of Obstetrical Emergencies e.g. Fetal distress, Cord Prolapse, Ante and Postpartum Haemorrhage, etc.
Prevention, early detection and management of complications in Midwifery are the cornerstone of good maternal and neonatal outcomes. Midwives must possess knowledge and clinical skills in managing pregnant women from pre- conception to the postnatal period.
I believe that Midwifery is practical.

Xilavi Alinah worked as my head nurse. She is knowledgeable, responsible and hard working, punctual at work, copes well under stressful situations, has a humble personality, and always refreshes our knowledge with updates in midwifery.
As my head nurse Xilavi Alinah was able to impart valuable knowledge and nursing skills that allowed me to provide the best possible care for patients. Alinah is extremely organised, an exceptional multitasker, quick to help any of her co-workers without being asked, and always smiles.
