About Robin
I have a strong background in Behavioral Neuroscience and multiple areas of Psychology. Not only did I graduate from Purdue University with an Honors Research Thesis, but I am a fellow and past-board member of Psi Chi, the international psychology honors society. Following this, I did my graduate work, also in Behavioral Neuroscience-Psychology, at BU before becoming the head surgeon in a spinal cord injury lab. I have since been teaching at multiple universities while conducting bacteriophage research in a collaboration with HHMI and the University of Pennsylvania. During this work, I also became course complete in Master’s level Biology.

I focus on depth of processing, not memorization. This process ensures that you will not only pass a one time test, but will retain the knowledge long term, making future courses easier because you have a solid foundation in the previous course materials. I teach using a combination of methods, which allows me to accommodate for different learning styles while presenting material in multiple ways. This allows for review of the same material from different perspectives, such as medical case studies, peer reviewed journal articles, video clips, and true crime stories. My experience ranges from teaching in university settings and doing scientific research to teaching self-defense to ages 6-86. I have experience teaching to all levels of education and experience. I have had students come to me distraught over course material that was over their head leave my classes wanting to pursue the same topic in graduate school. My most recent lab students are now running biology laboratories or finishing their first few years of medical school.
