About Laura
My name is Laura and I was born and raised in Galicia (Spain). When I was 16 years old, I moved to the US as an exchange student and completed my junior year of high school there.
When I moved back to Spain a year later, I realised I didn't want to follow the comfortable path I always had in mind. Instead, I decided to apply to UK universities and hope for the best. Lo and behold, I moved to the UK that same September and attended the University of Leeds, where I confirmed how much I loved meeting people from all over the world and learning with them.
After 7 years of living in the UK - where I also improved my Portuguese and tried to learn Mandarin Chinese - I moved back to my hometown in Spain where I currently live.
All the years I spent abroad have made me an open-minded, curious, and naturally talkative person who genuinely enjoys connecting with others. For me, teaching is not just a way to earn extra income - I really enjoy it. I often find myself thinking about my students and our conversations throughout the day.

After years and years of studying English in school, it wasn't until I moved to the US at 16 that I was able to actually hold a conversation with a native speaker. That's why I believe conversational classes are key for students looking to master any language, and why I decided to offer conversational classes online. My classes are aimed at intermediate/advanced students, or those who can hold a conversation, but need more practice to feel confident in their skills.
My classes are usually 50 minutes long, and they are tailored to my students' lives and interests. My classes are nothing like school-level classes; instead, I speak to my students as if they were friends or colleagues and help them correct the little mistakes books and YouTube videos could never correct. The classes are easy-going, often very fun, and very relaxed - mistakes are okay and actually welcomed, if there are mistakes there are opportunities to learn.
I have 25+ students on a different platform at the moment. Some of them take weekly classes, some of them will take the odd class once a month.
