About Mia
Serbian is my first language and I have grown up speaking it in a Serbian household. I also received a Seal of Biliteracy, which officially recognizes my proficiency in Serbian and English. I often translate for members of my family, which has given me real experience switching between the two languages. I also visit Serbia every summer, allowing me to stay closely connected to the language and modern terminology.

As someone who grew up in a multilingual household I understand the challenges of learning a new language! I find that it is important to incorporate different engaging techniques to combat these challenges. My teaching focuses on every-day and real-life vocabulary so that students can really use what we learn. A typical lesson includes speaking (with proper pronunciation), writing, and being able to comprehend the given vocabulary and phrases of the day.
