About Luwa
Hello, I’m Evelyn, a native Mandarin speaker from China currently living in London.
I have a Master’s degree in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and over five years of experience teaching Mandarin. I taught children from Nursery to Year 6 at a primary school in London for nearly two years. Before that, I taught Mandarin at secondary schools in South Korea. I also teach children and adults online through individual and small-group lessons. I speak Korean as well as Mandarin and English. I enjoy helping students and other people build confidence in speaking Mandarin and discover Chinese culture.

My Mandarin lessons are tailored to each student’s age, level and goals. For young learners, I use pictures, stories, games and conversation to make learning enjoyable. For older students and adults, we can focus on practical speaking, pronunciation, characters or a structured course such as HSK. I explain new language clearly, give students plenty of chances to practise, and adjust the pace according to their progress. Lessons are available online.
