About Linda
Hi, I'm Linda.
I'm a native German teacher with 28 years of teaching experience and a particular talent for making complicated things make sense.
I lived and taught in London for nine years and have worked with children, teenagers, adults and professionals at every level, from complete beginners to advanced learners.
My teaching career has taken me from Germany to Costa Rica and the UK, including language schools, private tuition and corporate training. I've worked with clients including Google, Facebook and Red Bull, and I hold the CELTA teaching qualification.
I also work professionally as a translator and proofreader and speak several languages myself, so I know what it feels like to learn a language from the other side of the desk.
What I'm probably best known for among my students is explaining German clearly. I'm patient, precise and very good at spotting the one thing that's stopping something from clicking.
And yes - German grammar really does have a system.

Have you ever learned a German rule, understood it in the lesson… and then had absolutely no idea how to use it three days later?
That's exactly what I try to avoid.
I don't teach German as endless lists, tables and rules to memorise. I break the language down into clear, repeatable patterns so that you understand why something works - and can use it again in a completely different sentence.
Over the years, many of these explanations have become what my students call “Linda's Rules”: simple ways of understanding things like cases, word order, adjective endings or sentence structure without drowning in grammar terminology.
Lessons combine clear explanation with plenty of practical use. Depending on what you need, we might work on:
• speaking more confidently
• finally understanding German grammar
• pronunciation and listening
• GCSE or A-Level preparation
• German for work
• building a solid foundation as a beginner
• getting unstuck after learning German for years
• refining advanced German and sounding more natural
Your lessons are built around your level, your goals and the way you learn. I don't work through the same programme with every student.
If something doesn't make sense, we'll find another way of explaining it until it does.
