About Margot

Hi, I’m Margot! I’m a native French speaker, born and raised in France, and fully bilingual in French and English.

Languages have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up in France before moving to England, where I have now lived and worked for several years. Being bilingual has given me a real understanding of how much language can shape the way we connect with people, build confidence, and feel at home in a different culture.

My background is quite varied, which I believe is one of my strengths as a tutor. I have several years of hands-on experience working with children and families, including as an au pair, in childcare settings, and currently within a child and family therapy organisation in Kent. I’ve worked with children from infancy through to school age, and I’ve regularly introduced French naturally through conversation, play, everyday routines, and shared learning with families.

I’m now preparing to return to France to begin university studies in English, with the long-term goal of becoming a teacher. Teaching French feels like a natural extension of everything I already enjoy: working with people, understanding how different minds learn, building confidence, and helping someone realise they are capable of more than they thought.

Why I Want to Teach French

I want to teach because I know that learning a language should feel exciting, not intimidating.

Too many people come away from language learning believing they are simply “bad at French” because they struggled in a classroom, felt embarrassed about their accent, or were afraid of making mistakes. I don’t believe that confidence comes from being perfect. It comes from feeling comfortable enough to try.

That is the environment I want to create in my lessons.

Whether I’m working with a child saying their first French words, a teenager who needs support with schoolwork, or an adult who wants to finally feel confident speaking aloud, my goal is the same: to meet them where they are and help them move forward without unnecessary pressure.

I don’t want my students to simply memorise French. I want them to feel able to use it, enjoy it, and make it their own.

My lessons are designed to be flexible, relaxed, and tailored entirely to you, whether you’re a complete beginner finding your first words or a more confident speaker looking to sharpen your fluency.

I work with all ages, from young children to adults, and I genuinely enjoy adapting my approach to whoever is in front of me.

Lesson length is something we decide together. I offer sessions from 30 minutes up to a full hour. Shorter sessions work particularly well for younger children, or for anyone who finds learning a language a little daunting at first. Steady, regular practice in a low-pressure environment can build confidence faster than you might expect. Longer sessions suit learners who want more time to settle into the language, develop their skills, and really get into the flow of conversation.

My approach starts with listening. Before anything else, I want to understand how you learn, your pace, your goals, and what makes you feel comfortable. From there, I build sessions around you, rather than following a fixed script.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Some people need encouragement and gentle repetition, while others thrive on being challenged. My role is to find what works for you and keep adapting as you progress.

My background is a little different from that of a typical tutor. I’m a native French speaker with full bilingual fluency in English, and I completed my French Baccalauréat with excellent results, including top grades in English. I also have four years of hands-on childcare experience, during which I regularly incorporated French language practice into everyday activities. This included working with an eight-year-old and her mother, making French something they could learn and enjoy together as a family.

I currently work at a child and family therapy organisation in Kent, which means I’m experienced in communicating clearly, patiently, and sensitively with people of different ages and backgrounds. I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, so parents can feel fully reassured.

Who Are My Lessons For?

Anyone who wants to speak French with more confidence. Shy beginners, curious children, busy adults, exam students, or people who simply want to keep their French alive are all welcome.

Whether your goal is to build confidence, improve your conversation skills, support school learning, prepare for an exam, or simply enjoy speaking French more naturally, we’ll shape the lessons around you.
