About Kate

My name is Kate Kidney Bishop. I am Australian and grew up between Sydney and London. I currently live in East London.
I have a BA in Fashion Media Practice & Criticism at the University of the Arts London. Alongside tutoring, I work as a freelance stylist and a talent agent.

I am acutely aware of the support needed by students in building a portfolio, having built and curated mine independently. The classic education structure used in mainstream schools does not suit all ways of learning and I am someone that benefited from alternative learning styles. I would therefore like to provide this opportunity to others.

I will tailor learning and communication techniques to individual students and try to refresh their creative energy and enthusiasm. I would love the opportunity to be able to help and work with your family!

About the lesson

I first sit down with my student and, if desired, their parent or caregiver and discuss how they feel they best learn. Based on this and the subjects they require tutoring in, I tailor my methods to make my lessons both informative and engaging for my student. I often find visual learning effective, and a method used less often in mainstream schools, making tutoring a good opportunity to fill this gap. However, my methods will be guided by my student's learning style.

Kate has a wide understanding of many art and design fields, but most importantly she's passionate about it all. I've personally learnt a lot from Kate and been inspired by her unique approach to projects. She does not let 'rules' or 'boundaries' get in the way of her work - allowing the message to be conveyed honestly. For these reasons I highly recommend Kate as a Superprof tutor.

I've known Kate for years, as a friend, but also as my trusted tutor for my children's progress in art and design subjects. Kate's history of working in the creative industries of art, fashion and graphic design has been a great example to my kids; showing them how a hard work ethic is essential to make progress in this field. Kate's experience and her creative methods for tutoring make her an excellent choice for a tutor and I would reccommend her to anyone.
