About Maartje
I recently graduated with honours from an English university and have been tutoring Dutch and English to high school students for over 5 years. I help students progress in a calm and reliable manner. I take my role as a teacher seriously and ensure that my lessons are well prepared and tailored to the student's level and goals. I believe it is important that students feel comfortable when they start tutoring. I never judge anyone's knowledge, and if something needs to be explained several times or in different ways, I do so patiently and with pleasure. My goal is for students to finish the lesson with confidence and look forward to the next lesson with a positive attitude.

My lessons focus on a personal and relaxed approach. I believe that people learn best when they feel comfortable and dare to make mistakes. That's why I always start with a short introduction and a discussion of your goals: what are you struggling with, what do you want to improve, and why do you need Dutch? A typical lesson consists of a combination of explanation, practice, and application. This may mean that we go through texts together, practise speaking skills through conversation, work on grammar, or focus on writing skills. I explain things clearly and practically, with examples that match your level and interests, so that Dutch becomes logical and understandable instead of something you have to “cram.” I always provide a good explanation during the lesson, but you will also receive a short summary on paper after the lesson. This way, you can always refer back to what we have discussed. Whether you need help with grammar, writing texts, speaking with more confidence, or exam preparation, the lessons are fully tailored to your needs and pace.
