About Muriël

I am a native speaker of Dutch that recently finished an MA in Medieval Studies at the University of York. Before this, I graduated cum laude (comparable to a 1st) in English Language and Literature from the University of Leiden, during which I wrote my dissertation in linguistics on communicating uncertainty without losing public trust, specifically on the influence of expression length and word frequency.

I have always had a great passion for languages and I believe this shines through in my teaching. I have years of experience in tutoring. I hope to make my students as enthusiastic as I am, and I believe one to one lessons can really help those who struggle in a larger classroom environment. I base my lessons on the specific needs of each student.

Because of previous technical issues with the in built superprof platform, I use Zoom for my lessons.

About the lesson

I offer tutoring in Dutch for all levels. Lessons will be specifically tailored to the individual needs of the student and will involve supporting the student with their understanding of set texts and course material.

During the first lesson, we will discuss the student's wants and needs when it comes to the tutoring. Based on this, the lessons that follow will be tailored to the particular needs of the student. Lessons are typically about one to two hours, as I believe this is the prime amount of time for students to be able to focus.

Because of previous technical issues with the in built superprof platform, I use Zoom for my lessons.
