About Mïlla
I am a grade 11 student who is very passionate about visual arts, design and languages, and I am very creative. Outside of schoolwork, most of my time is taken up with digital illustration, photography and alternative fashion. I’m starting this tutoring side hustle to help younger students access my practical skills, while also starting to save independently for my future university goals.
I always got 90%+ in my subjects in grades 8 and 9, so I have a really solid, fresh understanding of the foundational skills younger kids need. As a person I’m super chilled and patient and non-judgmental. I have a very conversational and light way of communicating. I hate boring, strict lessons. I prefer to keep it fun and interactive and break down concepts using creative, everyday examples so they actually stick. I want to create a comfortable environment where students can ask anything without feeling silly so we can build their confidence together.

My Approach and Methodology
My approach to private tutoring focuses on clarity, empathy, and efficiency. I have maintained a consistent academic average above 90% throughout high school. I don’t just teach the language; I also share the study systems, active recall methods, and exam strategies that help achieve top marks.
What makes me unique as a tutor is that I am currently navigating the high school system myself. I talk to students as a peer, not a strict lecturer. I understand the pressures of the CAPS curriculum, the layout of current test papers, and the specific areas where students miss easy marks due to stress or confusion.
Language Proficiency
I am fully bilingual and a native Afrikaans speaker. I can teach both Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) and Home Language (HL). Since I know both English and Afrikaans well, I can help English-speaking students who find Afrikaans sentence structures difficult.

Lessons are flexible and tailored to what the student is struggling with each week. There is no rigid structure. Instead, we keep things practical and conversational:
Targeted Help: Before the lesson, the student or parent tells me what topic, test, or assignment they want to work on next. I prepare the necessary materials in advance.
Concept Breakdown: We sit down and identify where the confusion is. I break down the specific language rules or essay frameworks into simple terms.
Hands-on Practice: We test out the concept together with a few practical examples. The student leaves the session knowing how to apply what they've learned in class.
