About Kaylee

Nagangbi (hello), I'm Kaylee, an Indigenous undergraduate uni student located in Perth. I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Biology with minors in both Molecular Biology and Indigenous Knowledges and Practices. If you can't tell from my degree, I am super passionate about everything biology. My goal is to eventually work in a research position where I can incorporate my love for science with my family's Indigenous culture.

Additionally, I achieved full colours in high school and received the ECU STEM Award for mathematics methods. On top of this, I am a recipient of both the Murdoch Univeristy Ngala Kwop Biddi Brighter Futures Scholarship and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering's Boosting Diversity in STEM Scholarship.
I would be more than happy to assist students in applying for scholarships themselves.

About the lesson

I always offer the first session free. This is because it is not a session where we do subject-related work. Instead, this is when we make introductions and discuss our overall goals with tutoring. Typically, during these sessions, we will make a list of the areas which the student(s) struggle(s) with the most (especially for science).
These sessions may not be a full hour.

During our paid sessions, I will go over some content with the student based on: 1) what is being covered in class; and 2) what they are struggling with. Then, we will go through some practice questions and apply the information I have provided to an assessment-like task. This will prepare them for school assessments on these topics and show the student what the curriculum expects of them. Based on how they perform in these tasks, we may discuss it further to solidify ideas, or we may continue on to some more detailed content to allow them to answer more in-depth questions such as those that appear at the end of an exam. Additionally, they may bring along some assessments which I will assist them with. I will never do the task for the student. Rather, I will show them how to apply the content we have discussed already to the task and guide them in the right direction, ultimately showing them how to break down assessments and rubrics. This, along with academic research skills, is essential knowledge for both secondary and tertiary studies.
