About Valentino
My name is Valentino Gargano and I study Classics at UCL. Currently in my second year, I am interested in ancient civilisation and ancient languages. The linguistic aspect is one that I particularly cherish and in which I am deeply interested. Despite being a native Italian speaker, I have studied French and English ever since I was little and I managed to obtain a C2 certificate of proficiency in English when I was 16. I have graduated in Liceo Classico in Italy (a particular kind of secondary school which focuses on humanities, among which Latin and Greek) with a score of 100 cum laude/100. I have decided to go on following the humanistic path and I have been accepted by UCL (University College London), where I study Classics. Among my awards last year, I have won the Stephen Instone Travel Award and the 3000 £ Arts and Humanities Undergraduate Scholarship for Excellence, along with the Long Prize and the Postgate Prize. These were all granted to me due to my outstanding results in final exams, which comprehended a mix of classical languages, literature, history and philosophy. I am currently expanding on my linguistic knowledge and learning Sanskrit as my intention is developing an academic career in historical linguistics.
As for my previous tutoring experience, I have tutored many, especially in the field of Classics (but also in Italian Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, History of Art) both during secondary school and in college, always endeavouring to work along with the student, rather than on the student, and I am happy to say that the results were always outstanding and quick.
