About Svetoslav
My name is Svetoslav Korotin. I am a classical guitar concert performer and educator based in Russia.
I have diverse teaching experience with both children and adults. Currently, I work at two local music schools, where many of my students have successfully participated in competitions and concerts. My approach combines technical discipline with musical expression, tailored to each student's goals. In addition to guitar, I can also teach music theory — including notation, harmony, ear training, and sight-reading — either as part of guitar lessons or as a separate subject.
About me:
I began playing guitar at age 7. Two years ago, I graduated from the Voronezh State Music College, and I am now continuing my studies at the Tambov State Musical and Pedagogical Institute under renowned Russian guitarist Roman Zorkin.
As a performer, I have taken part in several major Russian guitar competitions, including:
2nd place at the "Guitar at Gnessin" competition
2nd and 3rd places at the "Guitar in Russia" international competition
I perform regularly at venues such as local philharmonic halls, opera and ballet theater, museums, and libraries.

I take a highly individualized approach with every student. With children, I focus on discovering what truly sparks their interest in music and the guitar, carefully selecting repertoire they genuinely enjoy. My main goal is to help my students love and feel music. I believe this is the most important objective of all—once it is achieved, the student becomes deeply motivated to learn the instrument and to play the pieces that resonate with them. My approach is also very humane: I will never force a child to learn something they dislike. Instead, we work together to choose pieces that move their heart.
For students who already play the guitar at some level and have a solid musical foundation, I look for hidden weaknesses that may be holding back their development—such as muscle tension, gaps in music theory, underdeveloped ear training and musical imagination, or a lack of certain technical skills. Once identified, I address these challenges with targeted exercises, carefully chosen repertoire, theory lessons, and technical drills.
I also incorporate ensemble playing into my lessons. I play the main part while the student plays the melody or the bass, allowing us to perform some of the most beautiful masterpieces from the classical repertoire right from the very beginning. This experience brings the music to life and gives students powerful motivation to continue learning.
