About George

I hold a BA in Music and English Literature from Bangor University (First Class), an MSc in Psychology from the University of Nottingham, and a PGCert in Advanced Practice in Psychological Wellbeing from the University of Surrey. I have been writing and playing for nearly 20 years. I have helped pupils achieve their goals, either in playing contemporary pieces, learning to improvise or write songs or passing their practical and theory grade examinations with Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM.

About the lesson

I believe that learning music should be fun and that the student knows best what it is they want to get out of each session. Each student has different goals, so I am not overly prescriptive about the form each lesson takes. As a tutor I am friendly, relaxed and like to take a broad overview of teaching, so that the technical and theoretical skills needed to play classical and contemporary music intertwine. I have experience writing, recording and performing music across a variety of genres. I can assist students in their preparation for, and completion of, ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall graded exams (up to Grade 6), in addition to tutoring at GCSE level. (dislike writing reviews, especially when we don't know enough about someone or something, but Georges positivity, approach, knowledge amazed us, so we thought to write a review to the first person who didn't ask for one)Lovely positive approach, his knowledge and positive approach make learning easy & fun. George is also very flexible and easy to arrange a lesson and to communicate with. Our homeschooled daughter had only a few lessons with him until now ( so, we hope he doesn't change : ) However with an abundance of experience in hiring teachers, we can guarantee that George would be your best choice if you are looking for someone to teach music theory.
