About Evan
Hello, I am Evan Kuhnert, a Canadian screen composer, systematic musicologist, and classically trained saxophonist based just outside of Edmonton in Sherwood Park. I specialize in microtonality, adaptive music, psychoacoustics, and ethnomusicology. I graduated from The King's University in 2024 with a degree in music and I want to offer the wisdom I have developed over the years and through my research.

I offer predominantly online instruction for motivated students who are committed to elevating their work to a professional level. I work with early composers and coach them through developing their music while instilling the theoretical understanding that is essential for creating nuanced music that expresses organically.
With formal university training, many years of self-directed research and the production of my own music works, my lessons emphasize:
- A systematic understanding of harmonic voice leading.
- Methods of music analysis related to Schenkerian Analysis.
- Musical exposure as the key to composition.
- Rules are merely well-practiced suggestions.
- Simplicity can be complex & complexity can be simple.
