About Sierra

I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska, but I went to college in San Diego at UCSD and in New York and NYU for my master's degree. My undergraduate degree is in communication studies, where I graduated with honors. I completed a senior thesis during my last quarter at UCSD, during which I became interested in public health and its intersection with media. I began my Master's in Public Health at New York University in the Fall of 2020 where I focus on reducing infant and maternal mortality in developing countries.

About the lesson

First I like to get to know my students and have a conversation with them about what their goals are, that allows us to set clear objectives for our lessons. I like my students to use daily/weekly planner (if they don't already) so that they stay organized. This helps good habits to form early. My lessons are for grades 6th-12th, I love including fun literature and art whenever I can. My lesson plans are personalized to each student and my teaching style is laid back and personable, I really do enjoy teaching.
