About Patrice Raymond
My time as a German teacher: In April 2023, I started teaching German online via Zoom. I started with two private students, then later for a college in Manila. At the college, I taught classes with up to 20 students. Filipino nurses preparing for the TELC exams. A1-C1 were the requirements for hospitals in Germany to accept applicants. About me: It has long been my wish to teach full-time. I love talking to people who want to learn something new, and if they need a little motivation, I give it to them with my empathetic and encouraging manner. For as long as I can remember, I've always been good at helping people. My way of dealing with the realities of life always puts me in situations where I can help people. I thrive when I can help. I enjoy continuing my education online so I can better support my students. There are so many good teachers who share their modern learning methods and only expect a “like” in return. A win-win situation! My school days: I attended school in Lucerne, Switzerland. Even back then, I loved books more than anything else and read so much at night that I often overslept and was late for school. During my three years at secondary school, I attended a private supplementary course in German literature once a week for half a day. Thank you very much for reading my rather long letter. I am very excited about this great opportunity to continue working as a German teacher, cultural ambassador, and bridge builder for people who are interested in the DACH region. *DACH=Germany, Austria, Switzerland* We can discuss further details in a video call. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Nano

Hello * Hallo * I am Patrice, 48 years young. Nickname: *Nano* Swiss citizen living abroad. What I offer: *Individual or group lessons* *A1 to C2* *Professional teaching materials* *Interactive games on accusative/dative/genitive and more* *Confident presentation in German* *Presentation preparation for various industries and topics* *How to apply correctly for a job or a place at university in the DACH region* *TELC exam preparation* *Do you have a specific request that I can help you with? Feel free to ask me* *I will proactively support you so that you learn German faster and better* What we do in German lessons: In general, we don't just sit around, we are active, because learning is more fun and leads to better results when you actively participate. With full commitment, because it is very important to communicate openly, listen and practice real teamwork. I make the lessons very varied. Of course, I have a textbook that we work through together. However, it is not very productive to work through everything in a traditional, boring way. Grammar games, where you stand up and name objects in the room with the correct preposition, keep you fit and alert. Since prepositions are often confused, this is a good and quick way to learn them. Sometimes we listen to a song or watch a short play/video and then write down what we have heard, followed by a discussion. We always read everything aloud together, with only one person having the microphone turned on at a time. We play little question-and-answer games in pairs to practice listening and speaking, which helps you build confidence. I always help with corrections and explain why something is right or wrong. Sometimes I give a motivational speech, which you write down. For more advanced learners, there are projects such as performing a song or a short play. I also strongly recommend telling jokes. As well as a little politics, culture, and history lessons. This always provides plenty of topics for conversation and helps you prepare for the DACH region. Followed by a discussion and topic-related homework. Those who ask questions get ahead. And yes, you get homework. ;-)
