About Jordan
Most of classes at university was in Languages, Linguistics, History and Cultures. I also did some studies in dialectology, mainly in the area of Late Latin and Iberian Romance. I can describe what differentiates some Spanish dialects from each other. I had many classes in Teaching English as a foreign language. One of those classes was Problems in English Grammar. I took Hebrew with Professor Hector Avalos, (Iowa State University) who was the student of Frank Moore Cross. Frank Moore Cross was the Hancock Professor of Hebrew and Other Oriental Languages Emeritus at Harvard University. Hector Avalos expected students to memorize 100 words a week in his class. Hebrew gave me experience learning a language with a different alphabet and from a different language family. I started to learn Sanskrit while in Thailand. Latin, Sanskrit and English are a part of a family of languages called Indo-European, which means all these languages come from a common source. This means that I know how English fits into the Indo-European family of languages. This can help in teaching by showing tricks to learn English and give deeper explanations for English etymologies.
