About Steven

I am a medical student who has a hobby of chess for many years. In China I have been teaching chess to elementary school children for one year. Every day I learn chess for at least 3 hours by studying the matches of the super grandmaster, chess openings and tricks, chess puzzles and playing chess online. My online chess rating is 1200

About the lesson

I can teach chess online via zoom or in person (I have the chessboard). I can teach students according to their level, from beginner to professional. Chess puzzle practice is very important in order to memorize the checkmate patterns and win the exchange of pieces. I can also teach chess openings and trick that can help you win fast. Pawn and pieces position is very important. We should gain as much space and press down the opponent's pieces. With good pawn position, we can also push the pawn to queen promotion before reaching endgame and lose other pieces. Timing is also very important. I used to play fast online with 3 minutes for each player.

Chess is a beautiful and sophisticated game. From the opening, we can see where the game is headed (Is it an open and aggressive position or a closed and positional game?) As we bring our pieces out, we try to gain more territory, hold important squares, and attack their weak points. Chess is a 2 players game. We have to guess what our opponent want to do. Why he moves there? What does he want to attack? Did he leave the guard of good square? Sometime he might sacrifice his piece too. If I take his piece, would it open my defense, can I survive his attack and not yet checkmate?
