About Avni

I have recently completed and passed my final exams for med school. This means I know the vast amounts of knowledge required for med school examinations and OSCEs which often can become overwhelming. Having me as a tutor will mean I can guide students on how to approach revision schedules, important topics/concepts as well as providing teaching on pre-clinical, and clinical knowledge. These will all aim at maximising the efficiency of students' time and improving knowledge to become excellent, passionate and competent doctors.

About the lesson

My lessons are aimed at students striving to pursue a medicine degree who need guidance on entrance exams and applications, and also at students in all years of their medical degree requiring teaching on pre-clinical and clinical knowledge, as well as OSCE guidance. I have had years of experience privately tutoring including A level/GCSE sciences and maths which is supported by my own achievement of 8A*s in GCSE and all A's in my A levels. I have also tutored numerous students as part of my degree ranging from one-to-one sessions, for example, anatomy tutoring, to delivering revision lectures to groups of students. Further experiences include being the representative of a national teaching society, delivering research findings at multiple conferences and writing learning material for revision websites. These experiences have allowed me to refine my teaching skills by showing me the most effective methods of learning which I implement in my tutoring sessions. My teaching style aims at initially establishing students' knowledge level, followed by a tailored approach to their specific requirements- this often involves a combination of covering content, exam material and perfecting exam technique. I like to include self-assessment and reflection for students at intervals so they can review improvements they have made to their skills and knowledge as this provides encouragement and guides ongoing learning techniques. Lesson length ranges from 1-2 hours, which can be further discussed on an individual basis.
