Medical and general neuroscience tutor from a specialist at Ivy plus medical school

Amanda was an engaging and enthusiastic mentor for sci-MI, at the neuroscience mentorship program. Amanda is very friendly and explains concepts in a way that was easy for me to understand. During meetings, clarifying questions were always encouraged, which helped further my learning. She also provided examples and other resources on topics I was interested in learning more about.

In college when I was studying to become a neuroscientist, Amanda was manager of the laboratory I worked in. Lucky for me, she was an incredible manager and an even better mentor! You will not find someone more supportive, encouraging, and understanding. She is the perfect balance between friendly and professional: an amazing listener, fun and easy to talk to, but ALWAYS prepared and on time. Not only that, she is a wealth of career knowledge and advice, especially when it comes to academia, scientific research, science education, and education in general. If you need direction, specialized knowledge you can't just find on Google, or a supportive tutor who has your back, you seriously can't do better than Amanda Michaels.

During the summer of my junior year of high school, Amanda mentored me on researching and presenting the neurological effects of chemotherapy on Breast cancer patients. Working with her was a very blissful experience. As I navigated through my research topic, Amanda directed me with her wonderful insights in neuroscience. Under the mentorship of Amanda, I was able to create a well-written research abstract and presentation. She has a passion for educating students and bringing out the best in them. She is extremely well-organized, flexible, supportive, and a great teacher!
