About Hossein
I am Ph.D. of Mechanical Enginering from University of Manitoba with many teaching and research experiences. I have strong passion at teaching and interacting with students. The opportunities to teach and work with students and to develop new teaching methods to share my knowledge and exciting new research findings with students are my primary reasons for seeking a tutoring job. My academic and industrial backgrounds and previous teaching experiences make me well prepared to teach mechanical, structural, Civil, and Industrial engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching students with basic principles, encouraging their passion to study by themselves, and showing them the way of an effective learning are the fundamentals of my teaching theory.
My teaching experience:
1. Instructor, Biomechanics, Summer 2016, University of Manitoba
2. Teaching Assistant, Biomechanics, Winter 2018 and Winter 2019 Semesters, University of Manitoba
3. Teaching Assistant, Mechanical Engineering Lab., Winter 2018 and Winter 2019 Semesters, University of Manitoba
4. Teaching Assistant, Vibration and Acoustics, Winter 2016, Winter 2017, Winter 2018, and Winter 2019 Semesters, University of Manitoba
5. Teaching Assistant, Mechanics of Materials, Fall 2015, Fall 2016, Fall 2017, and Fall 2018 Semesters, University of Manitoba
6. Teaching Assistant, Fundamental of Finite Element Analysis, Fall 2013, Fall 2014, Winter 2016, Winter 2017, Fall 2017, and Fall 2018 Semesters, University of Manitoba
7. Teaching Assistant, Kinematics and Dynamics, Winter 2014 and Winter 2015 Semesters, University of Manitoba
8. Teaching Assistant, Engineering Economics, Summer 2016, Summer 2017, Summer 2018, Fall 2018, and Summer 2019 Semesters, University of Manitoba
9. Teaching Assistant, Automatic Control, Winter 2005 Semester, University of Mazandaran

I believe enthusiasm and techniques are the two most important things for a successful study, and enthusiasm always leads the way. A good teacher is not only responsible for passing knowledge but also acting as an important role to arouse students’ activity to study by themselves. A teaching process is student-oriented rather than teacher-oriented. This is my understanding about teaching after I studied and worked in both eastern and western countries.
Furthermore, teaching techniques are always more important than the knowledge itself. Students are encouraged to contemplate and understand the physical essence of the knowledge for a flexible application but not to remember the tedious equations. A good teacher should put more energy on teaching students how to think rather than how to accept. In summary, my major teaching techniques include:
• To understand the role of the course that I am teaching.
• To know what students know about the subject that I am teaching. Individual student may have different knowledge backgrounds. The more I know about my students, the clearer I know where I should focus on my teaching effort.
• To start the course with related basic theories and interesting examples so as to actively encourage students’ initiative of studying.
• Teaching is to facilitate learning, but not to replace learning. I like to select a few significant ideas, theories, and principles and present them thoroughly. Leave something for students to do.
• During the lecture, I will spend more time on explaining the train of thought of a basic theory or a practical problem rather than telling students what to remember.
