About Megan
As an English literature TA and aspiring counsellor, I am uniquely positioned to help you with your essay writing. As a TA I learned what makes for clear writing and effective argumentation. As a counsellor, I get that writing is intimidating and the whole process is understandably overwhelming. I am committed to listening to my students and empowering them to become better writers themselves. I don't just believe in giving you all the answers because I don't believe that works. I am committed to sticking with you, trying out different strategies until we find one that works for you. I love literature and I hope that by the end of our lessons you not only have a better understanding of essay writing, but you might even enjoy yourself.

I know essay writing can be intimidating, especially if writing isn't your passion. I often hear how frustrated students of English literature are because it's just so hard to know what teachers are looking for. I am here to make essay writing easier. I believe through my people skills and clear communication I can help you understand what makes for a good essay. I help students compose a clear thesis and write concise essays that form effective arguments. I will meet my students wherever they're at in the writing process and workshop an argument with them. A typical lesson will include thesis review and analysis of a single argument so students can understand the expectations their teachers will have of their entire essay. The entire essay can be considered for issues of flow and argumentation. We will focus on issues of rhetoric, structure and style. I am passionate about helping students realize their own potential. I want my students to know they do have meaningful ideas about literature and empower them to communicate those ideas clearly. I know how to write and I care about people. I am excited to get to know you and help you write something you actually care about!
I work with upper year high school and undergraduate students of English literature, looking to improve their writing skills.
