About Mayumi
I have 3 BAs, which are in English, Political Science, and International Relations. My Masters is in Writing Pedagogy. I was a writing and English literature professor at Norwich University for 8 years. I taught at the College of Alameda before that. I tutored students at the Academic Achievement Center with dyslexia, long-term memory troubles, autism, ADHD, or students who just have difficulty with time management. The age range of those who I have taught spans from 9 to 48. I also worked at Calypso Continuing Education, an all-online EdTech company, writing online courses using recent best practices to assist students taking appraisal and real estate law courses. I enjoy helping students succeed and reach their goals. My focus during my Masters was metacognition and creating specialized learning plans for student independence, in hopes they wouldn’t need me anymore! I love to read and attend conferences to keep up-to-date on all the latest tactics to help learners and writers like you!

Writing/Analyzing Literature/Research/Creating an effective argument can be scary and intimidating! Together, I can help you create a toolkit, foolproof for any essay assignment that you can metaphorically take with you anywhere. If you feel a bit shaky in regards to grammar, don’t worry. I have a few sayings - mnemonic devices - that will assist in your memorization of these grammar rules - because Grammarly and grammar ChatGPT or other forms of AI aren’t always perfect. My cute doggo Rona is also available for consultation. :)
