About Austyn

I hold a master’s degree in Communication Studies and have experience as a university instructor and research assistant. My academic background involved extensive writing, research, literature review, presentation, and analysis, as well as providing feedback to students on their academic work.

As a university instructor, I worked directly with students to help them develop ideas, communicate clearly, and strengthen their academic performance. My research experience also gave me a strong foundation in research design, source evaluation, academic writing, survey development, and presenting evidence clearly.

Professionally, I now work as a business analyst, where writing and communication remain central to my work. I regularly take complicated information and turn it into clear, organized documentation and guidance for others.

I approach writing tutoring with patience, specificity, and respect for the student’s own voice. My goal is not to replace the student’s writing with my own, but to help them understand how to make their work clearer, stronger, and more effective.

About the lesson

My approach to writing tutoring is collaborative, structured, and focused on helping students become more confident independent writers. Rather than simply correcting a paper, I help students understand how to strengthen their ideas, organization, argument, and clarity so they can apply those skills to future assignments.

A typical session begins with the student’s goals and the stage of the writing process they are in. We may work on developing a thesis, organizing an outline, strengthening an argument, integrating sources, improving paragraph structure, revising a draft, or polishing a nearly finished paper. I explain the reasoning behind my feedback and work with students to make revisions themselves rather than simply rewriting their work for them.

I am especially helpful for students who know what they want to say but struggle to organize their thoughts into a clear academic paper. I can also help students break larger projects, including research papers and theses, into manageable steps.

My lessons are best suited for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students seeking support with essays, academic writing, research papers, thesis development, revision, proofreading, source integration, and overall writing organization.
