About Maria

I am a dedicated and compassionate educator with a strong academic background in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education. I am committed to helping students build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

I believe that patience, structure, and encouragement are essential in helping learners succeed. My training in Special Education has equipped me with the skills to adapt lessons to different learning styles and academic needs. I take pride in being organized, professional, and fully committed to my students’ growth, both academically and personally.

About the lesson

Teaching Approach & Methodology

As a tutor, I believe that every student learns differently, and my role is to adapt my teaching style to meet their individual needs. With my background in Elementary Education and Master’s training in Special Education, I use structured, student-centered, and differentiated instruction to ensure that each learner feels supported and confident.

My teaching approach combines clarity, patience, and consistency. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps and use guided practice, visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive activities to strengthen understanding. I also focus on building foundational skills, especially in reading comprehension, writing, and problem-solving, which are essential for long-term academic success.

A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous material to reinforce retention. Then, I introduce the new topic in a clear and engaging way, followed by guided practice where the student and I work together. After that, the student practices independently while I provide feedback and encouragement. I always end the session with a short summary and quick assessment to check understanding.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my training in Special Education. I am experienced in working with diverse learners and understand how to adjust instruction for different learning styles, pacing needs, and academic challenges. I create a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — because that is where real growth happens.

My lessons are designed for students in Grades 1 to 8 who need support in core subjects such as Math and English, enrichment opportunities, or structured academic guidance. I also work well with students who need extra patience, organization skills, and confidence-building in their studies.

My goal is not only to improve grades but to help students become independent and motivated learners.
