About Julia
I am an arts professional with a Master of Art Curating and a Bachelor of Visual Arts, with experience working across galleries, public programs and cultural institutions. I am passionate about teaching because I understand how intimidating learning can feel, particularly when students worry about asking questions or feeling judged for not knowing something yet. I personally struggled at school with confidence and asking for help, and that experience shapes the way I teach. In our lessons, there is no such thing as a silly question, and learning is approached with patience, clarity and respect. I am committed to creating a supportive, professional environment where students feel comfortable seeking help, building confidence and developing their understanding at their own pace.

My approach to tutoring is student-centred, supportive and structured, with a focus on helping learners build confidence in their understanding rather than memorising information. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level, goals and learning style, using guided discussion, practical examples and clear explanations to break down complex ideas and encourage critical thinking. Lessons typically run for around 60 minutes, allowing time to review material, focus on key concepts and reflect on progress, with flexibility for longer sessions if required. I hold a Master of Art Curating and a Bachelor of Visual Arts, and I would be well suited to tutoring secondary school students, university students and adult learners, adapting content and pace to suit beginners through to more advanced levels.
