About Erika
I am a native english speaker with years of experience in the TESOL industry. I have taught english in Canada, Panama and Australia to students from all over the world. I have studied and completed a Master of TESOL to further my growth and development as an educator. I have a passion for knowledge, growth and access to opportunity. Access to education and opportunity have always been my motivation for wanting to be an educator. I truly enjoy watching my students grow in their learning and abilities. Being a part of someone's journey to success makes being an educator the most enjoyable job to have. However, the journey to success isn't always easy. Sometimes it may take a few failures and a couple of mistakes to get to where you want. Failure and mistakes are a part of learning, if you're not making them you're not in a better position than you were the day before. Progress takes dedication, hard work and time; if you're willing to dedicate your energy as a student, I will take it on as a teacher.

I strongly believe in communicative teaching methodologies while keeping consistent with whatever the end goal of learning is. Most students have an end goal of finding confidence and strength in their ability to communicate effectively . If this is our main gaol, I believe in using real-world situations for students to practice using language for context and content rather than learning about grammatical rules and structure. If the main goal is to prepare for and achieve a high score on the IELTS exam I believe in utilizing proven techniques and strategies to pass the exam and achieve the desired outcome. I am confident in my teaching abilities based on my Master of Teaching English as a Second Language as well as my years of experience. A typically lesson can last anywhere from 1 hour and depending on our goals can be adjusted to suit the needs of the student.
