About Valerie

My guitar teaching approach focuses on building strong foundations while encouraging creativity and personal expression. We work on technique, timing, and tone, along with important skills like ear–hand coordination, alternate tunings, and using digital effects to expand your sound. I also introduce songwriting exercises that help students write, arrange, and perform their own music. For those interested in classical playing, we focus on precision, fingerstyle techniques, and note-reading to strengthen accuracy and control. Students drawn to performance or spiritual music receive guidance in phrasing, expression, and arrangement, helping them play confidently and meaningfully. Lessons are interactive, combining theory with hands-on practice to make concepts easy to apply. I break down complex ideas into simple steps and offer practical hacks for faster progress. We also explore modern tools like loopers, effects pedals, and digital audio workstations to enhance creativity. My goal is to help every student play with confidence, musicality, and joy. Whether preparing for the stage or practicing at home, I support you in turning challenges into achievements and daily practice into a rewarding experience.

About the lesson

With over 3 years of teaching experience, I now help students unlock the guitar in ways that are fun, practical, and tailored to their style. My lessons blend patience, humor, and real-world hacks to make learning approachable for every level. I’m known for my “riff breakdown” method, where we deconstruct songs slowly until they feel natural and playable. I also love using real-time songwriting challenges to spark creativity and help students craft music on the spot.

I picked up my first guitar as a curious teenager, teaching myself chords and riffs late into the night with nothing but determination and a love for music. Those early self-taught days taught me patience, persistence, and the thrill of discovering something new on my own. Over time, my passion grew, leading me to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar), where I refined my technique and deepened my understanding of theory and performance.

I guide students step by step, turning confusion into clarity and frustration into musical progress. My goal is to help you not just play the guitar, but truly understand it.
