About Akuetey m
As a multilingual educator from Ghana with over a decade of teaching experience in both West Africa and the United States, I bring a lived understanding of what it means to navigate and bridge diverse cultural, linguistic, and educational landscapes. My fluency in French, English, and Ewe allows me to connect meaningfully with students from varied backgrounds, and I intentionally create classroom spaces that are inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive.

For the past two years, I have served as a Teaching Assistant and Instructor of Record in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Kentucky. I taught beginner-level French courses (FR 101 and FR 102). My instruction is aligned with ACTFL standards and emphasizes language acquisition through communicative methods, cultural exploration, and differentiated instruction. Previously, I taught French at the secondary level for nearly a decade in Ghana.
My teaching focuses on creating inclusive, culturally responsive classrooms that foster active engagement and critical thinking. I employ various instructional strategies and educational technologies to cater to diverse learning needs, regularly assess student progress, and adjust my methods accordingly. Through professional development, including training in AI-enhanced learning, active pedagogy, and communicative methods, I continuously seek to refine my craft and inspire my students to see language learning as both a skill and a gateway to understanding the world.
