About Marissa
I am a Psychology undergraduate with a strong academic background in English Language and Literature. I have always enjoyed helping others understand ideas that once felt confusing, and I want to tutor because I know how much confidence and clarity can change a student’s experience of a subject.
I am patient, supportive, and approachable, and I aim to create a calm learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Studying psychology has helped me understand different learning styles, motivation, and exam anxiety, which I use to help students build both skills and confidence in English. :)

I am a psychology undergraduate offering GCSE English Language and Literature Tutoring. My approach is student-centred, supportive and structured with lessons tailored to each learner's strengths, exam goals and confidence level.
I focus on building clear understanding of texts, improving written expression and developing strong analytical skills. Lessons will typically involve breaking down exam questions, practising essay structure, close reading of extracts, and learning how to plan and write confidently under timed conditions. I also help students improve their grammar and clarity, using techniques informed by psychology to support memory, motivation and confidence.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though this can be adapted depending on each learner's needs. Each session has a clear aim, guided practice and time for questions, ensuring steady progress without pressure.
As a psychology student, I bring strong communication skills, patience and understanding of different learning styles, I have a solid academic background in English and experience supporting students with coursework.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE students, aged 14-16 who want extra support and exam practice:)
