About Marcia
I am a Brazilian national who fell in love with English and my native language, Portuguese. I have also taught ESL to students from several different nationalities and professional backgrounds.
I adore teaching an love to see my students accomplish their goals when they are able to converse, read and write in their target language and also when they improve their comprehension and pronunciation skills.
My academic background is one hundred percent language oriented. I am a translator for Brazilian Portuguese but have worked as a teacher since I graduated because teaching is my passion and learning is my pation.
I am a very enthusiastic teacher and have been voted teacher of the year virtually every year.

The communicative approach to learning a second language is the backbone of my lessons and courses.
The goal is to keep the teacher-student talking time respectively at a 30% and 70 % ratio.
Note: I always use a textbook
A typical 60-minute lesson goes as follows:
1. Icebreaker (5 mins.)
2. Review and homework correction ( 5 - 10 mins)
3. Presentation ( New subject: grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure )
4. Practice ( repetition and speaking activities)
5. Reading (pronunciation is reinforced)
6. Homework is assigned at the end of each class
